William W. West

Photographer and Tailor
Tailor William W. West took up photography in about 1861 to supplement his income. After serving in the 9th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers he became a traveling artist in the Phoenixville area. During the 1870s he was an itinerant stopping in Chester Springs, West Pikeland Township; Birchrunville, W. Vincent Township and elsewhere. In 1872 he settled into a studio on Main Street in Spring City. Later he moved to 133 N. Main Street where he remained for the rest of his career.
